These changes can be seen in his attitude and in his small gestures, but they are generally perceived only by his master. Therefore, it would not hurt to know how to behave in the company of a strange dog, and what to do if a dog becomes threatening growls at you.

How Do we Know That a Dog is Preparing to Attack?

His body becomes tense, his hair raises all over his body, his eyes become small and he is watching his victim. The dog’s ears and tail are tense, his jaws are almost deformed in a grin, while he is alarmingly pulling his gums. Below is one view on how to stop a dog attack.

What to Do if a Dog is About to Attack?

    • If a dog attacks us, the first and most important thing is to try to keep your composure and try not to panic.

    • Do not turn your back on the dog, and do not run away.

    • Try to receive the attack, face-to-face, try to sit in such a position that the dog won’t be able to attack you from the side or get behind you.

    • Quietly and calmly try talking to him, this may confuse him.

    • In case of small husky dog or a mixed dog use a low-frequency voice to talk because they will understand this as a warning.

    • In case of big stature dogs you should stand against them in an attack position, with one foot placed in front of the other.

    • If the dog is preparing to jump, lift up your hand imitating a punch, so that the dog will attack your arms, and avoid any possible head injuries.

    • If you fall on the ground, try to recover as quickly as possible, otherwise you won’t be able to avoid a new attack. If you feel that there is no way you can fight back then curl into the fetal position and cover your head.

    • When the dog finally calms down, try to slowly step away from him.
