A dog harness is a useful addition to your dog accessories. It makes a dog much more comfortable when attaching a dog lead. There are many types of dog harness available, and it can be tricky to know which one to go for. See the following guide on the different options before hooking up your dog lead to a harness.

    •    Each dog breed is very different in size, shape and personality. These dog accessories are not appropriate for every dog. Some smaller breeds can handle a small dog harness. However, a small dog harness may not be suitable for all little dogs. Before you buy a small dog harness, check with your vet if your particular breed should be wearing one.

    •    It is important to get a dog harness that can be fitted correctly so that the dog lead does not make it uncomfortable or harmful for the dog. With a soft measuring tape, take the measurement of the fullest part of the dog’s chest. This will help you to know what size to buy.

    •    Choose an adjustable harness. These are great as they can grow with your dog, or tighten if the dog loses weight.

    •    A leather dog harness is always a good choice. This is because a leather dog harness lasts a long time and is comfortable for the dog. Aside from the leather dog harness, there are others that are made from softer materials such as fleece.
